These have been good months for the U.S. online poker market. The industry continues to see good revenue numbers with possible developments even more pleasing on the horizon.
The expansion of interstate pacts, recently approved to include Michigan, offers the opportunity to grow even more in the coming years. And beyond offering cash games and tournaments, operators are showing some creativity to attract players and get them back.
With that in mind, here are some things that American online poker operators are doing well to keep the market growing.

1 – Attractive to a wide range of players
This continues to be a trend not only in online poker in the US, but also in international sites. Recreational players are the future of online gaming and keeping them coming back ensures a vibrant group of players for every budget.
In this line, the main operators have stressed how important it is to attract a wide range of players. For example, the upcoming PokerStars Knockout Bounty Builder includes 135 events with buy-ins ranging from $ 5 to $ 1,000.
Players have the option of a title for only $ 5. The series also offers many variations of poker and tournament styles.
Partypoker US Network joined these efforts in April. The company ran the Cheap Stakes series with purchases ranging from $ 20 to $ 50. The site continues with this kind of effort every month.
At WSOP.com, online spring championships are underway with purchases starting at just $ 20. A wide range of options means a wider range of players and events that will not break the budget.
2 – Promotions, satellites, freerolls and more
Promotions continue to be a major selling point and operators continue to climb the game. From freerolls to bargain ratings, getting into action has never been easier.
Stars introduced a new hybrid satellite with Bounty Builder. The tournament not only awards seats to the main event in Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Jersey, but also additional cash prizes.
Partypoker continues to offer regular promotions as well as part of the platform’s tournament festivals. A good point came in March in Michigan. The company did a “thank you” freeroll to celebrate a year in the state with $ 10,000 at stake.
WSOP.com even offers a freeroll on May 31 with a $ 10,000 seat in the main event. Low-cost satellites and freerolls offer recreational players many ways to get into the action and even a chance at some championship events. It seems that companies are increasing these efforts and this is paying off for the players.
3 – Great tournaments with a lot of variety
Operators have also adopted popular tournament styles such as progressive knockouts (PKOs). Bounty Builder includes all events in this fun format.
WSOP.com also continues to offer players great events each month as part of the online circuit series. The events reward the championship as in a live WSOPC series.
The operator continues to offer a variety of events. The company also continues to focus on limited freezes and re-entries as at the annual Las Vegas WSOP.
Again, players can expect double-digit online wristband events for New Jersey / Nevada and Pennsylvania players. Michigan also has some bracelet events planned, but is there any chance they will join the WSOP shared liquidity market this summer? This is to be seen, but it might come as a surprise.
PokerStars also continues to move forward with synchronized series in Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Jersey. In Bounty Builder, players have the chance to win six championship trophies, always a good advantage for players. In April, the site awarded 90 trophies to SCOOP winners and the series crushed the $ 2 million guarantee.
4 – Contribute creativity
There is no doubt that US online poker operators have become creative. Here’s a look at some of these efforts.
Live tournament synergy
Last week’s announcement of BetMGM / Partypoker launching the BetMGM Poker Championship in Las Vegas Aria is a good example of sites that take advantage of some synergy possibilities.
The $ 3,500 event is scheduled for June 23-26 with a $ 1 million guarantee. BetMGM awards at least 15 tournament packages to each of its markets.
This is the second of those efforts with March Poker Madness also winning live tournament seats at Borgata in Atlantic City. The additional cross-promotion between MGM properties and the online poker platform offers an opportunity for a little extra publicity. Seeing one of these qualifiers win in Las Vegas would only heighten the story.

WSOP.com has also included some good live opportunities. As in recent years, there are numerous online rankings for summer bracelet events in Las Vegas.
However, another great live event also attracts online players from the site to each market. All WSOPC bracelet and championship ring winners win a free entry to the Champions Tournament.
This event is a $ 1 million freeroll and is the last live WSOP tournament this summer, scheduled for July 18th. This is a good added incentive for live and online players.
Maybe PokerStars can join these live tournament efforts next year.
Streamers and ambassadors
BetMGM Ambassador Darren Elias
As U.S. online poker markets mature, operators are making more efforts to promote the game. Partypoker has added some popular poker player power to its line. Darren Elias, a four-time WPT champion, now represents BetMGM and also helps design tournament series and other backstage efforts.
For the March Poker Madness series, the company had “hosts” in each of the company’s markets. Among them are Elias in New Jersey, professional poker and coach Matt Berkey in Pennsylvania and poker vlogger Andrew Neeme in Michigan.
PokerStars has also joined in promoting and signing some Twitch streamers to its roster. The WSOP has even come into play, becoming the champion of the 2009 main event, Joe Cada, the company’s ambassador to Michigan.
Classification boards
These continue to be popular with players. PokerStars Bounty Builder awards a nice trophy to the eventual winner of the series.
WSOP.com also does a great job in this capacity. The site offers a weekly leaderboard with cash and tournament tickets to the winners.
The player of the year career has also become a good point for WSOP.com. The annual ranking offers $ 10,000 in cash, $ 1,500 in tournament tickets and an exclusive ring for the winner.
If there is one criticism on this list, it is that partypoker / BetMGM and PokerStars have not accepted any POY race. Perhaps shared liquidity will bring about a change in this.

5 – Keep the course
It has not been easy for online poker players and operators since the state-by-state approach began in 2013. Legalization has been slow and groups of players have shown large fluctuations at times.
But now the industry seems to be moving in the right direction with some solid gains. Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan, Nevada and Delaware offer legal online poker.
However, Connecticut online poker and West Virginia online poker have been legalized, providing an opportunity for even greater interstate pacts.
Because sports betting is also experiencing such rapid growth, some states may also consider poker and other online games. Could New York, Illinois or Kentucky be the next to board?
It appears that the industry is at least on track for continued growth in the coming years. Keeping the course can finally bear fruit.
