They were once the bitterest of enemiesbut you would be hard to guess from Daniel Negreanu’s last appearance on the Doug Polk podcastthe couple discussing everything from the Poker Brat Behavior a high level traps to whom is the poker GOAT!
It’s only been 18 months since Polk and Negreanu fought the infamous online “Match of resentment of the century”. That battle saw Polk take over Children’s poker per $ 1.2 million Through 25k mansbut in doing so he he found a new respect for his opponent.
His talk began with a brief discussion how DNegs improved after that difficult matchwith Daniel revealing an aspect related to the tips, with large lanterns an important part of the highstakes game.
“Playing against you changed my relationship with the tips in general … 20-30 years of tournament play teaches you … whatever you do, don’t make a big mistake!”
Then he moved on to more juicy topics, with Phil Hellmuth first …
Hellmuth’s horrible behavior
The self-proclaimed Poker Brat has recently hit the headlines for Screening of train accidents at the Hustler Casino Live showwho saw him scolding teammates, especially amateur players. He was matched accused of making an angle and highlighting an opponent in particular
Negreanu told Polk:
“She seemed to be attacking Alexandra Botez, incessantly the only woman at the table,” though she added, “no one was so intimidated …” by Hellmuth’s crossings. “The only thing that surprised me was that I didn’t have a jovial attitude in a place where it seemed like what you should do.”
With Polk not believing that the “Poker Brat” is a person Hellmuth puts on displayNegreanu replied:
“You’re 1000% right and anyone who says it’s an act hasn’t been around!”
This year’s WSOP could be interesting if he acts like that in front of Negreanu, with Daniel explaining it. it will pull him up:
“He called someone a ‘fucking idiot’ just to call the river … I’m calling the floor for things like that … he has to do a better job of getting close to that line, but not crossing it.”
Negreanu on Highstakes Cheating
The world of highstakes poker has been flooded accusations and allegations of deceptionoscillating from live rubber collar to online ghosts and use of RTA, and much more.
With Ali Imsirovic, Jake Schindler and Bryn Kenney The main defendant in recent weeks, Negreanu admits that the deception was like one “Ugly Secret” among the high-risk community.
The problem, he says, was this it was difficult for anyone to provide evidence as online sites were limited as to what information they could give for fear of legal retaliation.
“I hope this will bring about a significant change … specifically for online sites, to change the ToS so that they are not subject to these privacy laws, where, when someone cheats, we can’t reveal who … and what they did. I think it would be much better if we could, like, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, all these guys cheat, get rid of them. ”
Imsirovic, the chess trick?
Ali Imsirovic was the first player to be reported as an alleged cheater, with Negreanu commenting on the infamous rubber hand Alex Foxen shared on Twitter:
Ali opens the CO with Ah9c. Then look very visibly at Paul Phua’s letters, Ad5. The actual footage makes it even clearer than this screenshot. Paul folds and Addamo defends BB. Ali bets and goes up to 642 ddd, sticks to a 3bet and wins the hand. pic.twitter.com/aIhQw4Hqv4
– Alex Foxen (@WAFoxen) April 18, 2022 “I think he’s shooting an angle … but you’re shooting an angle at everyone … not just him [Paul Phua]”Negreanu said and then told an amazing story of Imsirovic cheating on chess.
Apparently, Imsirovic was playing his friend Chris Brewer for fun online, and Ali won all 15 games. When Brewer checked the accuracy of the games, Ali was playing at the level of Grand Master, which means that he was using a chess engine or that he had a very strong assistant who imagined him, probably the first.
“No money … he cheated on the boy … what kind of person is capable of doing such a thing?” asked an incredulous Negreanu.
Polk replied:
“Wow, this is a bass … this is a very low, low!”
Poker Blacklist and EPT ban Mystery
This story was news last week, with the PokerStars EPT taking place in Monte Carlo. As Negreanu says: “Jake, Ali and Rok Gostisa were not allowed to play in Monte Carlo … they went to the cage to check in and then went to the beach …. they were showered, they were not allowed to play. Jeff Platt spoke to Ali and said, “Would you like to speak in front of the camera” … he said “no.” He said, “Would you like to talk off camera?” he said ‘no’ “.
If this is true, Negreanu says, it is how to deal with cheating. Operators one by one tell the tricks that they are persona non grata and expect the bans to bring about a significant change in those who think about cheating.
Bryn Kenney and the no-no list
“When he said ‘frog poison’, I literally spat out what I was drinking!” Negreanu says about the incredible accusations that the money winner of the number one tournament of all time directed at cult operation which also involved different forms of deception.
Kenney’s old horse, Martín Zamaniposted several screenshots to accompany his allegations and DNegs stated:
“What I think of the text records … I was aware that the ghost was happening, potentially animating it in some cases (‘orchestrating it,’ says Polk).”
The bad the good and the seductive
Regarding the levels of deception, Negreanu stated: “Number 1 is RTA and collusion together, then number 2 is RTA, number 3 would be collusion … below the list would be Chip Dumping , Ghosting and … Pre- Flop charts are obviously insignificant for the most part. ”
To end a two-hour discussion, Negreanu’s Poker GOAT the list was discussed, its order looked like this:
Ivey
Reese
Brunson
Oppenheim
Negreanu
Antoni
He admits that he is in purely personal old school list because he grew up playing poker and was told:
“Unless you can play every game, in Bobby’s high-stakes room, you can’t be the best player.”
As to whether or not we will see Negreanu at Doug Polk’s Lodge Poker Club in Austin, Texas, the answer was vague but appealing:
“After [the WSOP] maybe I’ll find you and play you live! Let’s see if I can get it in 4 hours of shit! ”
