The 53rd World Series of Poker, the most prestigious and longest-running event in the poker series, has finally announced its program of events for 2022. After 17 years of success at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, the WSOP transfers on the Las Vegas Strip to Bally’s, the future Horseshoe, and the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Hollywood star Vince Vaughn is the master of ceremonies for this edition. Vaughn’s well-known face for American cinema and TV is the latest in the testimonials of a large group of stars such as Leonardo Di Caprio, Tobey Macguire and Ben Affleck, who have spent money on events such as the WSOP.
What’s new in this edition of the WSOP
The transfer to the Strip is based on the legacy of Caesars Entertainment’s World Series of Poker, as the first ever tournament was played at the original Horseshoe in Las Vegas in 1970. The doors will open on May 31 with an exciting action until the end of the event on Wednesday, July 20.
“This year is particularly historic for the WSOP with its move to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip and the debut of the best facilities we’ve ever had,” said Ty Stewart, WSOP Executive Director at his 17th WSOP. “We are ready to welcome players from all over the world to our home party at Bally’s, the future Horseshoe. The program is full of first-class events, and we expect this to be the largest and most anticipated WSOP ever. ”
The WSOP will once again present the long-awaited $ 10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship, also known as the “Main Event,” which in 2021 hosted 6,650 participants from around the world despite taking place during a pandemic. This year’s Main Event returns to its traditional timeline, which falls on July 4. The legendary tournament will continue until the final table on Friday 15 July and Saturday 16 July.
This year’s tournament will also include an opening weekend of the WSOP with a $ 5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool called “The Housewarming,” with a $ 500 buy-in. This popular opening weekend ticket has secured one of the most hype hype in modern poker history. Last year’s “Reunion” event drew 12,973 participants, and organizers expect an even wider field as the event returns to its traditional summer program.
The WSOP will work with CBS Sports Partner for a second season of daily streaming coverage on Poker-Go.
